Browser AI assistance

This guide covers how administrators, assessors, and viewers can use RapidCert’s browser AI assistance safely.

Availability

The AI assistance control appears when the feature is enabled and your browser provides compatible WebMCP support. If the control is absent, continue using RapidCert normally or contact your administrator about availability. When an assistant is actively using tools, the button label changes to AI active and the sparkle icon pulses. Screen readers announce the current action, for example, “AI active: Reading an evaluation” or “AI active: Noting a missing capability”. A small dot on the button stays visible while the assistant is active or while access is paused. Select AI assistance, or AI active while the assistant is working, to see the current status, pause or resume access, and open the Assessment guide.

Access and scope

An assistant uses your signed-in role and the clients selected in the current tab. It cannot expand its own access.
  • Administrators and assessors can read assessment information and use permitted assessment tools.
  • Viewers have read-only access within their granted viewer scope.
  • Changing the page, selected clients, or signed-in session invalidates the previous tool context. The assistant must rediscover the available tools before continuing.
Assessment changes made through browser AI assistance save through the same rules as changes made in the interface. Review all saved changes. Final approval and Require Actions remain human actions.

Assessment guide

Administrators and assessors can open Assessment guide from the AI assistance panel. It provides a starter prompt that asks the assistant to:
  1. Confirm the evaluation and selected-client scope
  2. Review one question at a time
  3. Read saved responses and evidence before suggesting changes
  4. Reuse existing AI Assist guidance unless you request a new assessment
  5. Save permitted scores, comments, assessed states, conclusions, and actions sequentially
  6. Summarise what it read, suggested, and saved without making the final decision
Adapt the prompt to the evaluation you are reviewing. The guide is not available to viewers.

What an assistant can do

Available tools depend on your role and current page. A compatible assistant may be able to:
  • Search and read scoped companies, evaluations, and insurance information
  • Read evaluation questions, saved responses, scores, comments, and evidence details
  • Read authorised PDF text; image-only or scanned PDFs may have no extractable text
  • Request and read AI Assist for an assessment question
  • Save permitted assessment changes for administrators and assessors
  • Ask you to choose local documents before it uploads them as company documents within your authorised client scope
  • Open supported RapidCert pages
  • Report a missing capability when the available RapidCert tools cannot perform a requested task, then continue with the best available approach
The assistant can only upload files you explicitly choose in the browser. Selecting a file permits that upload; it does not give the assistant access to other local files.

Pausing access

To unregister RapidCert’s WebMCP tools in the current tab:
  1. Select AI assistance
  2. Select Pause AI access in this tab
Select Resume AI access in this tab to register the tools again. Pausing RapidCert tools does not prevent an external assistant from using ordinary browser controls that you have separately allowed it to use.

Working safely

  • Check the selected clients before asking for data or assessment changes.
  • Save or discard your own draft edits before asking an assistant to change the same field.
  • Ask the assistant to distinguish information it read from changes it saved.
  • Review evidence directly when PDF text is unavailable, partial, or insufficient.
  • Refresh the assistant’s context after navigation or a client change instead of reusing an earlier request.
